Job Description

1 reimagine medicine!

The Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (NIBR) is the innovation engine of Novartis. We collaborate across scientific and organizational boundaries, with a focus on powerful new technologies that have the potential to help produce therapeutic breakthroughs for patients. And we are committed to training the next generation of scientific leaders.

The Oncology Translational Research group is seeking a talented and motivated postdoctoral fellow who will bring his/her scientific creativity and natural curiosity to tackle important therapeutic challenges. The successful candidate will become a key contributor in a dynamic and multidisciplinary team focused on understanding biomarkers of response and mechanisms of resistance to Novartis’ deep portfolio of MAPK pathway inhibitors.

The fellow’s responsibilities include:
▪ Design and execution of a research plan to elucidate the biology of sensitivity and resistance to MAPK pathway inhibition.
▪ Development, characterization, implementation and validation of relevant in vitro cell culture assays for identifying novel targets and pathways for further drug discovery.
▪ Collaboration and communication across various oncology teams, including in vivo pharmacology, target ID and validation, data sciences, and drug discovery teams.
▪ Communication of work through internal seminars and team meetings, external conferences and research journals.

The successful candidate will join a vibrant scientific community and collaborate with other postdoctoral fellows mentored by a range of scientists across disciplines and platforms, including chemistry, structural biology, molecular biology, functional genomics, neurophysiology and translational medicine. Postdoctoral scholars at NIBR have a unique opportunity to conduct innovative, interdisciplinary research and are expected to publish their results in leading journals. The postdoctoral term is up to 4 years.
