Job Description

This is why the Autoimmunity, Transplantation & Inflammation (ATI) Disease Area group at the Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research (NIBR) is investing in the discovery of innovative and transformative therapies to improve the life of affected patients. As part of this effort, ATI is seeking an experienced and highly motivated lab head to initiate and guide research and drug discovery projects in the area of immunodermatology.

Your Responsibilities:

• You will lead a state-of-the-art laboratory of BSc/MSc level scientists to discover and develop novel therapies for treatment of inflammatory skin diseases.
• Identify novel therapeutic targets and develop transformative therapeutic concepts
• Contribute to and/or lead early drug discovery projects within multidisciplinary teams up to clinical proof-of-concept studies in patients
• Investigate pathomechanisms and increase our disease understanding in inflammatory skin diseases
• Closely collaborate with scientists, clinicians, and technology experts across different departments in the global organization. Additionally, your scientific work will continue to result in impactful publications in peer-reviewed journals

Minimum requirements

What you’ll bring to the role:

• A PhD degree with several years of postdoctoral experience, strong technical and theoretical background/expertise of research in immunology and/or dermatology.
• Significant scientific accomplishments and successful collaborations documented by publications in high-impact journals.
• Proven track record of leadership, strategic thinking, creativity, and risk taking.
• Excellent communication, presentation and analytical skills.
• Mind-set of a strong team player, experience in working in a matrix environment and cross-functional teams.

Desirable requirements:

• Track record as an independent research scientist in an academic setting and/or in the pharmaceutical/biotech sector.
• Experience in preclinical drug discovery in pharmaceutical industry or biotech setting is a strong plus
