At Novartis Institutes for BioMedical Research (NIBR), NIBR Informatics serves the global NIBR research community to provide them with the best of breed, bleeding edge informatics platforms as well as in-depth data analysis services. The members in this group have a chance to participate in the ground breaking medical research activities that re-define the grammar for medicine in Discovery, Preclinical and Clinical environments.
The intern candidate will join a Scientific Informatics Systems Group, and work closely with Application Support Manager to provide informatics systems support to the drug discovery process, specifically in the area of scientific operation and preclinical safety. The ideal candidate should be a highly motivated team player.

Areas of Responsibilities:
• Work in parallel with the Application Support Manager and Specialists to provide application/product support to the scientific end users
• Work closely with Application Service Manager/Solution architect to understand and document and maintain application/product deliverables, processes, documentation
• Provide end to end software development lifecycle and support (e.g. incident/problem and change management
• Manage and archive application and project related documents

Minimum requirements

Education and Qualifications:
• Currently enrolled in an Undergraduate Program as Sophomore or Junior with a focus on Information Technology or Informatics
• Maintenance of a minimum cumulative 3.0 GPA is required
• Possesses the interpersonal skills to assist end-users
• Able to communicate effectively, both verbally and in writing; and to work in a diverse and changing environment
• Ability to work independently and/or as part of a team
• Good understanding and practical experience in fundamentals of software and data architecture
• Knowledge of AWS, visualization tools and Programing language is a plus
• Good organizational skills
• Highly collaborative, ability to work across various Novartis IT groups such as NIBR Informatics and NBS IT.

Preferred Competencies/Experiences
Knowledge of AWS, SpotFire, and programing languages is a plus.
