Job Description

Up to 27 potential launches are expected in the next 5 years at Novartis. If serving patients is your passion – this may be the place for you! The US market access environment is changing and will have a direct implication on the way products are brought to market to ensure patients have access to these products.

The Market Access Pipeline & Launch Excellence team delivers competitive access strategies, frameworks, and tactics across US managed market segments for assigned Novartis pipeline and BD&L compounds; develops impactful product positioning and compelling value propositions for development phase assets that optimize enduring and profitable access and patient affordability.

The team is divided into 3 key functions: BD&L, early pipeline, and phase 3 market access support.
1. BD&L Function: The right person will have a solid analytical background with an interest in market op-portunity assessments and forecasting.
2. Early Pipeline Support: The right person will have a deep understanding of the US managed market environment that they can draw on to inform clinical trial design and early opportunity assessments across the Pharma portfolio, which may include assets that fall within any of the following franchises: Respiratory; Immunology, Hepatology, and Dermatology; Cardio-renal metabolic; Neuroscience; and/or Ophthalmology.
3. Phase 3 Support: The right person will lead the market access launch strategy for one or more near-launch assets, including leading the pricing research, defining appropriate use, setting access goals, developing the value proposition, performing the payer segmentation, and outlining the launch tactical plan. Launch support will be transitioned to an in-line market access marketer at about 1 year pre-launch.

The BD&L responsibilities include, but not limited to:
• Working cross-functionally with multiple US functions, including US and Global BD&L, US Commercial, Global Patient Access, Global New Products, Finance, and Patient Access & Health Policy (PA&HP) as appropriate to provide US pricing and access assumptions for all BD&L activities
• As necessary, inform market access go-to-market strategies to help cross-functional teams understand what needs to be believed for a deal case to be realized
• Working collaboratively with pricing and contracting group to identify internal analogs to help inform assumptions
• Anticipating impact of environmental factors (legislative, economic, clinical, advocacy) on market access assumptions
• Delivering concise and effective communications to Senior Leadership to ensure alignment around assumptions
• Engaging and managing necessary data purchases and primary and secondary market research to help inform assumptions

The right person for the job will have strong analytical capabilities and executive presence.

Minimum requirements

What you’ll bring to the role:
• Education: Bachelor’s degree required, MBA and/or relevant graduate degree desirable
• Required Experience, Skills, and Competencies: 7+ years of relevant pharmaceutical industry experience (market access, marketing, commercial development, and/or insights and analytics)
