The Preclinical Safety group in NIBR is engaged in all phases of drug discovery and development and plays a critical role in moving these breakthroughs into patients.

What you’ll be doing

You will be part of a team conducting the postmortem (ex vivo) aspects of preclinical safety studies in various laboratory animal species (mainly rats and mice). Your work will support the broad Novartis portfolio including cell and gene therapy, oncology and cardiovascular products and help bring these innovative medicines to patients. As such you will work closely with a group of curious and energized scientists. Your responsibilities will include the planning and conduct of full rodent necropsy and histology procedures. Since many of these studies will be investigative in nature other cutting edge activities might be conducted including tissue collection and preparation for molecular pathology and transmission/scanning electron microscopy.
You will be joining a larger group which offer many opportunities for growth and development in other areas of preclinical and investigative safety including cross training to execute the in vivo aspects of preclinical studies molecular pathology techniques, digital pathology and image analysis and sample management.

What you will bring to the role:


AS/AAS degree in a life science with 3-4 years of relevant experience.
or
• BS/BA degree in a life science with relevant experience with necropsy and/or histology.
• Computer skills in Office software.
• AALAS, HT, MT, MSA, Medical Technologist/Scientist (ASCP), or Medical Laboratory Technician (ASCP) certifications desirable.
