Job Description

Most people will tell you they value eyesight more than any other sense. And yet, approximately 285 million people around the world suffer from vision loss, including 39 million individuals who are blind. Our ophthalmology team focuses on understanding the biology of eye diseases and we strive to develop therapies that will halt—or even reverse—the ocular damage and degeneration that eventually leads to blindness.

We are looking for a Scientist to join a team creating cell and gene therapies for conditions that compromise vision. In this role, you will be isolating and culturing human cells, including primary cells and stem cells.

What you’ll be doing

Performing in vitro experiments and collaborate with groups performing in-vivo experiments to help characterize cell and gene therapy products.

Isolate and culture human cells, including primary cells and stem cells.

Responsible for general laboratory maintenance, equipment and reagent ordering

Minimum requirements

What you will bring to the role:

• BS or MS with at least 5 years of laboratory experience with viral vector design and primary cell isolation and culture. Industry experience is preferred.
• Experience with AAV and lentiviral vector production is preferred.
• Experience with both two- and three-dimensional cell culture is preferred.
• Working knowledge of molecular biology techniques, immunocytochemistry, microscopy and FACS is preferred.
• Significant experience isolating and culturing human cells, including primary cells and stem cells.
