The Novartis Exploratory Immuno-Oncology department is seeking a talented, highly motivated Biochemistry and Cell Biology scientist. The candidate will work with multi-disciplinary teams and play a key role in advancing IO drug discovery projects as well as identifying novel therapeutic targets and approaches to benefit cancer patients. The ideal candidate will possess excellent communication and organizational skills and the ability to work in a highly collaborative environment.

• Conduct biochemical assays to profile small molecule inhibitors.
• Independently design, develop and conduct cellular assays to determine cellular activity of compounds.
• Design and execute experiments for early target validation and mechanistics investigations.
• Analyze, interpret and communicate data in lab and team meetings. Maintain an electronic lab notebook and contribute to support documentation.

Minimum requirements

Desirable requirements:
• BS/MS in Biochemistry, Cell Biology or Immunology with 3+ years of research experience.
• Hands-on experience with high throughput biochemical and cellular assays and automation equipment (e.g. HTRF, high content imaging, Biacore, BioTek, and Echo liquid handlers) and standard molecular and cell biology techniques (e.g. PBMC/T cell isolation and culture, RT-qPCR, Western blotting) is required.
• Previous experience and knowledge on enzymology, biochemical or cellular assay development and myeloid cell biology is a plus.
• Demonstrated ability to quickly learn and perform in new areas, implement new techniques and use new instrumentation.
• Must be highly motivated, team-oriented, and have excellent interpersonal and communication skills.
