Mechanical Engineer
This position works in a collaborative team environment design and developing innovative solutions for cutting edge ophthalmic surgical equipment. In this role, the incumbent conducts process research, process development and process upscaling for new medical device products. She/He also investigates and evaluates existing technology and designs new methodology, materials, machines and/or processes as needed for medical device development.

Job Description

• Responsible for leading, participating in or supporting the product development activities such as prototyping/testing, pilot builds, verification & validation testing, risk assessment and production tooling validation.
• Generates detailed fabrication drawings, appropriate product requirements and technical file documents and leads design reviews.
• Responsible for the design and development of mechanical components, systems, and products using PTC Creo.
• Generates detailed fabrication drawings with familiarity of GD&T and tolerance analysis.
• Works with cross-functional teams including EE, SW, QA, and Mfg.
• Applies intermediate level principles of engineering analysis to blend technical knowledge and manufacturing practices in providing solutions to complex engineering challenges.
• Ensures regulatory / statutory / legislative compliance for all project work.

• Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent years of directly related experience (HS+8 yrs; Assc+4 yrs)
• The ability to fluently read, write, understand and communicate in English
• Excellent process management and problem solving skills
• Fundamental, theoretical and applied knowledge related to general mechanical and fluidics engineering.
• Proficiency with 3-D CAD (PTC Creo )
• Ability to take responsibility for multiple concurrent design activities.
• Relevant work experience is preferred
• Experience in Injection Molding of plastics and silicone rubber and plastics joining methods (Ultrasonic welding, Laser welding, etc.) is preferred.
• Labview or Matlab experience is preferred.
