Novartis is currently looking to appoint someone to deal with Environmental Sustainability Engagement.
On the Legal compliance and authorities relations side, we will be looking at the best possible agreements between cantons, confederation and Novartis (new cantonal energy laws and Swiss CO2 law).
Novartis strategic targets on climate is to support HQ and key sites to implement environmental sustainability programs and public commitments (in strong collaboration with FM, DCM, Procurement and HSE&BCM).
In addition, engagement will be key; Increase the environmental sustainability engagement at Basel Sites and in Switzerland across all business functions, influence the attitude and patterns of behavior and embed environmental aspects into Novartis’ culture.

You will be responsible but not limited to:

• Providing and regularly updating the strategy on energy and climate for Basel Sites, Stein and Region Switzerland based on management’s guidance ensuring GHG, energy and footprint targets achievement till 2030
• Develop, in consultation with stakeholders, a comprehensive environmental sustainability strategy for Swiss sites
• Being informed on Legal compliance and authorities relations where needed Raising attention on environment, energy and climate
• Participate and guide the Basel Green Team and translate their environmental sustainability improvements into real projects within the areas of waste, natural resources consumption, food and drink, chemical usage etc.
• Leverage and scale up projects across all Swiss sites where applicable •Drive the establishment of ERGs or similar environmental networks in the Swiss locations outside of Basel in collaboration with Global HSE and Subject Matter Experts in the Swiss HSE team
• Engage with NGO, NPOs and Universities in Switzerland to leverage their knowledge and infrastructure on improving climate footprint of associates (for example MyClimate, WWF, BioVision, ProNatura and more)
• Ensuring that the campus and facility outdoor environments are as environmentally adapted as possible for example usage of pesticides, recycling opportunities, flora and fauna
• Raising awareness on the climate aspect of traveling to and from work, between sites as well as business travels
• Supporting the Green Chemical awareness in GDD and NIBR
• Increase environmental sustainability communication by for example arranging lunch seminars and newsletters
• Develop and deliver training programs and/or workshop formats for different populations within the Swiss organization
• Collaborate and drive improvement with departments in Switzerland, for example Supply Chain, on improving climate footprint within their processes
• Collaborate with CR department on overlapping programs and activities for example community partnership days
• University education or postgraduate qualification (e.g. science, engineering)
• German, English, any other language is a plus
• Minimum 5 years of professional experience in engineering or facilities management
• Minimum 2 year of experience in a supervisory role - Demonstrated ability to influence without authority and lead in a matrix environment -• Experiences in the HSE&BCM area, industry experience, preferably in the chem.-pharm industry
