Disease Area Specialist, Oncology - South London & Kent
As a Disease Area Specialist you will build and execute business plans to meet Specialty sales goals. This is a field-based role covering hospitals across South London and Kent. You will drive territory sales performance, market share, optimal resource utilisation and develop effective business relationships with customers. You will deal with complex customers including hospitals, institutions, local health authorities or private payers, to differentiate Novartis as a leader in a specific therapeutic area.

This role will cover territory from South London and across the county of Kent.


Your Responsibilities:

Key responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

• Executes business plans for assigned product lines/brands, customers or therapeutic area; uncovers and develops new business opportunities.
• Develops and applies understanding of customer organizations and networks and of diverse influences that affect customer decisions (e.g. peer relationships).
• Maps the interaction between customers and other external stakeholders, and leverages this knowledge appropriately to improve interactions with customers.
• Executes call plans for customers, including medical experts from customer or academic communities; develops business/clinical networks. Adapts and optimizes approach and communications style during sales calls, responding appropriately to customer needs. Uses knowledge of customer situation and trends to optimize the call.
• Ensures that Novartis products and supporting services are broadly understood and available to more patients and customers.
• Deploys and uses approved Marketing and Sales promotional materials and programs; coordinates direct promotion programs and facilitates pull- through activities.
• Develops deep specialist product and disease state knowledge in a specific therapeutic area and leverages this to build professional customer relationships and support sound clinical discussions.
• Has detailed knowledge of competitor products’ features and benefits, integrates customer-facing activities in cross-functional teams (e.g. Medical Affairs, Market Access) to achieve sales targets.
• Provides Novartis stakeholders and other colleagues with insight and feedback gained from customer interactions.
• Allocates resources effectively for programs and events etc.
• Presents highly technical portfolios to customer audiences. Uses all available technologies and channels to surround the customer with appropriate Novartis product promotion.
• Uses own deep knowledge of specific Specialty therapeutic area to guide and enhance the contribution of other Specialty Representatives.
• Supports Sales training programs and other capability development initiatives as appropriate.
What you’ll bring to the role:

• Degree or equivalent.
• Pharmaceutical sales experience (can be within either Primary or Secondary care).
• A good level of business acumen with the ability to prioritise effectively.
• High level of self-motivation and a strong drive to succeed.

Desirable Requirements:

• Previous experience in Oncology would be advantageous
