Gene/Cell Therapy Research Investigator
The Novartis Institutes for Biomedical Research (NIBR) is seeking a highly motivated, innovative scientist to join a multi-disciplinary program for developing cutting edge gene and cell therapies for treating malignant or nonmalignant hematologic disorders. The successful candidate will lead a team of 2 BS/MS level scientists to work in a dynamic and collaborative environment that interfaces at biology, chemistry, protein science, genetic engineering and pre-clinical development.

Qualified candidates will possess a Ph.D. in Cell Biology, Molecular Biology, Chemistry/Biochemistry or Immunology, and 5-10 years’ experience in leading an innovative research team. The successful candidate should have demonstrated in depth knowledge of human primary hematopoietic stem cell (HSC) biology in order to identify novel therapeutic opportunities with engineered HSCs. Advanced molecular biology skills are essential and a proven track record in developing innovative approaches for enhancing site-specific gene correction or insertion in HSCs is highly desired. Previous knowledge and experience with genetic engineering human HSCs are preferred.
He/she will possess excellent communication and organization skills, creative problem-solving capabilities and an ability to thrive in a dynamic matrix research environment.
