Job Purpose The Global Head of Digital Innovation is responsible for enabling digital innovation across customer journeys through integrating internal and external ecosystems to design, develop, engineer, launch and scale innovative transformative digital solution platforms to address critical customer needs and business challenges across Novartis Pharma. The Head of Digital Innovation will directly report to the Global Head of Digital Medicines. He/she will lead the state-of-the-art digital innovation techniques including design thinking and co-creation to nurture a coordinated and systematic approach to digital innovation across franchises and markets and bring the best digital solutions to life. He or she will lead the Digital Innovation Lab from Commercial perspective (in collaboration with Development).

Develop the Digital Innovation framework to be leveraged across digital solution platforms across the product portfolio and customer journey steps from identification, ideation, from Proof of Concept to scale-up. Identify and prioritize digital innovation initiatives that will be critical to develop distinctive, personalized solutions and experiences empowered by data and digital addressing key customer needs in collaboration with Digital Medicines Team members including Digital Medicines Leads, Franchise Digital Leads, Head of Customer Experience, Head of Data and Analytics and other relevant stakeholders. Develop internal (composed of colleagues driving digital innovation initiatives at global, regional and local levels across functions) and external ecosystems with partners and companies composed of high tech companies, start-ups, incubators, other pharma or healthcare companies, etc. Identify and create external partnerships with key vendors and ensure Novartis stays abreast of latest thinking in the area of Digital Innovation and builds capabilities and partnerships to fulfil and execute Digital Innovation initiatives.
Oversee and lead the innovation flow to enable digital solutions across Digital Medicines portfolio:
(1) Design and thinking: Research, refine and articulate customer and Novartis Pharma needs to identify the digital innovation initiatives with the highest impact on outcomes and business results. Utilize design-thinking and co-creation with customers to explore and develop new ways and solutions to address needs and pain-points. Create a vision of the future reality.
(2) Develop and test: Develop prototype solutions and solution architecture working in conjunction with internal stakeholders (e.g. Digital Medicines Leads, Customer Experience, Data and Analytics, Franchises, IT, development) as well as external partners. Define the business case. Test Proof of Concept solutions. Map out execution blueprint. Detail launch plans.
(3) Launch and scale: Activate the internal and external partner eco-system to ensure solution is scalable. Prove the value proposition. Establish the required capabilities including determining which critical capabilities will be recruited internally and externally to enable the digital innovation culture Enable an agile and continuous learning culture and team environment Measure and drive business value with clear business models and performance indicators for Digital Medicines portfolio.
• University degree in related field, MBA or Master's Degree preferred
• English fluent spoken & written; any other European language is an advantage
~10yrs of relevant business experience; pharma and different industry sectors
~ 5 yrs digital proven successful experience in developing and implementing digital innovation solutions along customer journeys with impact on healthcare outcomes and business results Technology and Digital Innovation experience required including working with start-ups, incubators, design thinking, co-creation, Proof of Concept development, scale up of PoCs
