CIBA VISION® creates mobile ‘app’ to train eyecare professionals
Eye care professionals are benefiting from an innovative new iPhone®* application offering “anytime, anywhere” access to high-quality educational resources.
Created by CIBA VISION®, a Novartis business unit, the Academy2GO iPhone “app” is a free download providing convenient, mobile availability of educational videos, feature articles, product news and everyday eye care tips.
The Academy2GO iPhone app is part of the CIBA VISION® ACADEMY FOR EYECARE EXCELLENCE™ continuing education service for eyecare professionals.
The Academy2GO iPhone app is one of many innovative approaches Novartis companies are using to better serve patients and healthcare providers. Novartis Vaccines and Diagnostics previously launched VaxTrak, an iPhone app to help parents, families and vaccine consumers track vaccinations.
Eyecare education goes mobile
Academy2GO iPhone app enables eyecare professionals to access 14 learning modules from the ACADEMY FOR EYECARE EXCELLENCE™, covering a spectrum of topics from eye anatomy to multifocal soft lens fitting. The application can be downloaded free via the iTunes®* App Store on your iPhone or computer.

Each learning module takes about 40 minutes to complete. An eyecare professional can engage at the office, at home or on-the-go. Because practitioners and staff often are pressed for time, users can pause a program at any time and finish the module later.
At the end of each module, the user takes an online test, which is scored instantly. The user can also print out a certificate of completion.
The CIBA VISION® ACADEMY FOR EYECARE EXCELLENCE™ offers many accredited** courses, so eye care professionals can obtain continuing education credits through the convenience of the mobile Academy2GO app.
